COMMODUS. 177-192 AD. Æ As - 25mm (10.81 g). Struck 190 AD. Laureate head right / Commodus as founder, veiled and togate, plowing right with two oxen. RIC III 570; BMCRE 658; Cohen 40. VF,dark olive green and brown patina, some striking unevenness. Very Rare. Ex Frederick S. Knobloch Collection (Stack's, 1-3 May 1980), lot 847 Struck in 190 AD to commemorate the refounding of Lanuvium as a colony, the birthplace of Commodus.
