ISLANDS OFF CARIA: Rhodes. Ca. 230-205 BC. AR didrachm (6.63 gm). Radiate head of Helios 3/4 right. Ashton, "The Coinage of Rhodes 408-ca. 190 BC," pl. 6.9 (same obverse die). A very nice coin. Well struck and centered, all details clear and sharp, no significant wear. Does the picture accurately reflect the toning? I find that is a challenge to capture with the technology available to me. Congratulations on an excellent acquisition! -c

Thanks, Clay. I agree that it's difficult to capture the proper color of coins. I'd have to say that this one is a little darker than the photos, but there's also a little more blue irridescence visible to the naked eye. But overall, it's fairly close.
