Dupondius Aelius - Salus

AELIUS (under HADRIAN). AE Dupondius. Rome, 137 AD. Obv. AELIVS CAESAR Bare head right Rev. SALVS TR POT COS II SC Salus seated left on chair, feeding from patera serpent arising from altar. C. 45 (8F) Tiber patina. It looks like the coin laid in an anaerobic environment (like water: river, spring, well) its reverse on a muddy soil, darkening the rev. surfaces, with a clear delimitation on the edge. Ex.
