LON / DON / CIVI / TAS.
Annulet stops in outer legend. Reverse barred N's & 'nicked' V typical of Series E.
LAL 58 (Obv) / LAL 18 (Rev)
Use of Series D lettering (C for E) and reverse barred N's in LONDON are features of early coins of Series E;
on later coins of the Series the unbarred N is more frequently encountered.
Therefore this obverse / reverse combination marks this coin out as a very interesting example of an early Series E Groat.
The Obverse without Annulet Stops is known but with very few recorded by Lawrence.
No examples recorded in the Doubleday Collection.Thus this coin is quite rare.
