Circa 454-404 BC. AR Tetradrachm. 17.22 g. Struck circa 430-415 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing earring, necklace, and crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves over visor and a spiral palmette on the bowl / Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent behind, AΘE to right; all within incuse square. Svoronos -; Kroll -; SNG Copenhagen -; SNG München -; DIES UNRECORDED (RRR) !!! Well Struck in high Relief on sound Metal with marvelous old Cabinet Tone! Extremely Fine. STUNNING and EXTREMELY RARE PORTRAIT of ATHENA from ARTISTIC DIE, almost FULL CRESTED !!! Apparently UNIQUE !!! The Nose of the ATHENA is from ARTISTIC STYLE, typical for the noses of the greek Sculptures of PARTHENON and of the classical Period; so this Athena Presentation is an EXTREMELY RARE and a very different VARIANT than in the common issues of the most athenian Tetradrachms!
