Philip II (359-336 BC), AR Tetradrachm, 14.46 g. Amphipolis Mint, struck circa 340/336-328 BC (temp. Philip II or Alexander III). Head of Zeus facing to right, wearing a laurel-wreath. Rev. ΦIΛIΠ-ΠOY, young male rider, naked and holding a palm-branch and reins, on a horse pacing to right, prora (ship´s fore part) below. Le Rider pl. 39, 411. Stunning and very rare Portrait of Zeus in one of the finest Styles of the Period. Struck in high relief on sound metal with amazing Cabinet Tone. Extremely Fine.
