I came up with a new technique for me anyway. I never like pressing gold coins which many people do between two hard surfaces as the direct force hits the raised lettering first flattening the raised detail as well as the coin. So i now melt wax over the detail and when this hardens it it gives more of an even surface area to take the force of the work. It seems to work well for me anyway.
