Series E circa 1354 / 55 These York Series E Pence exhibit lettering from the preceding Series D but are true Series E coins as no Series D pence die-links are known. Therefore, use of the earlier D Letter punches denotes an economic use of resources or may have played a role as a form of 'Control - marks' denoting a particular production run.
