Series E Lettering ( Unbarred Roman N , 'Stub-Tailed' R & V with bevelled edge at top of upper right Limb )
Rev: Long Cross quartered with Trefoil of Pellets.
CIVI / TAS / CBO / RACI ( Use of closed C for E in error)
Series D lettering:- Closed letter C and 'Curly-tailed' R.
Series E circa 1354 / 55
These York Series E Pence exhibit lettering from the preceding Series D but are true Series E coins
as no Series D pence die-links are known. Therefore, use of the earlier D Letter punches denotes
an economic use of resources or may have played a role as a form of 'Control - marks' denoting a particular production run.
