CLAUDIUS, for Antonia minor (posthumous). Æ Dupondius. Rome, circa 41/42 AD. Obv. ANTONIA AVGVSTA Draped bust r., hair falling down neck in a plait. Rev. TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TR P IMP / S-C Claudius, togate and veiled, standing l., holding simpulum in his r. hand, scroll in his l. hand. RIC 92; Cohen 6 Fine portrait. 'Tiberish' patina, the coin having laid in an anaerobic environment in water: river or spring. This coin is part of a (most probably votive) deposit found in France, consisting of mainly Augustus and Tiberius bronzes, and 2 Antonias, including this one.
