This coin commemorates the consecration of Trajan's father and was one of the issues struck in connection with Trajan's Parthian War. During his governorship of Syria in A.D.75, Trajan's father had earned the ornamenta triumphalia by defeating a Parthian invasion. He subsequently governed Asia and died sometime before A.D.100.
