Edward III Half Groat Series C LAL C c/d 1 - 9 Variety

4th Coinage Pre-Treaty Series C Half Groat. Obv: Crowned bust facing within tressure of Arches. Top Arches not fleured; barred A's & annulet stops +EDWARDVS.REX.ANGLI.Z.FRANCI Rev: Long cross quartered with trefoil of pellets surrounded by concentric circles. Inner legend starting in 2nd quarter below mintmark reads: LON / DON / CIVI / TAS Outer legend starts in 2nd quarter reads: +POS / VI.DEV. / ADIVT / OREM Barred A's with hooked right limb in Adjutorem & Civitas - & annulet after DEV not recorded by LAL. Bought from Coin & Stamp Centre in Shambles York (before it was taken over by Spinks) - reputed to be from the Doubleday Collection - but coin does not match the accompanying ticket which states that the 1/2 groat is a Series C(d) Obv 10 Rev 9 in fact it is Series C(c/d) Obv c 1 / Rev d 9 variety.
