Fabulous Tyre Tetradrachm

KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III. 336-323 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.13 g). Tyre mint. Struck 290-286 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre; monogram before and below. Price -; Müller -; Hersh 28 (vii/-). EF, nicely centered, boldly struck, exceptional style. This exact monogram was not recorded by Price or Newell. Hersh identified 1 specimen of this variety, struck from a different reverse die.
