North East Coast Stater

Vepcorf

"I'm sure you're right that this is a North-East coast type, probably c.50-40 BC, but like you I have been unable to identify any others from this particular pair of dies. I can find a few coins which have traces of the stars on the obverse but none where they are quite so prominent as here. The horse is quite strange too, as well as the missing tail the head seems to have been fitted into the space available below the horse's neck. I'll record this stater as CCI.07.0511. Thanks again for sending in such an interesting coin" Phillip de Jersey. Oxford Archaeology. Found: 27/07/07

Wow beautiful find. You should be able live off these finds at this rate! Spink 29 or 31 as horse (NE type) or wolf (Norfolk type) left.
