4to2centophilia 10 Posted March 28, 2007 Very Nice. Are all these coins (that you are posting) from detector finds around York? Link to comment
Vepcorf 10 Posted March 28, 2007 Thank you this is quite a rare saxon coin to find. All of these finds are my finds found in quite a few counties in england mainly Yorkshire,Warwickshire,Lincolnshire,Northamptonshire. I don't detect in the southern counties but those areas are even better for finds. Link to comment
4to2centophilia 10 Posted March 28, 2007 Yes, it appears to be rare. I found relatively few in the auction and sales databases and yours appears to be one of the better quality coins. Nice to find a >$600 coin in the ground. Makes me almost willing to put up with the weather and cuisine to move to England with a detector. Link to comment
Vepcorf 10 Posted March 29, 2007 If I could get these for 600 dollars I would snap the dealers hand off Danish types are about that price. In this condition English minted Restoration arm and sceptre types 1700 dollars +. I agree about the weather though!! if ever your in england let me know I'll show you how to use the metal detector. 4to2centophilia 10 Posted March 29, 2007 Vepcorf Sounds right. The ones I found were at least a grade lower and prices were a couple years old. I will get over to the UK again someday. Alex..........I knew you would poke your head up on this coin eventually. Link to comment
AlexB 10 Posted May 17, 2007 Hi Vepcorf Is the coin slightly 'rolled', as best I can describe it? I see this coin is lilsted in the Fitzwilliam database, good job Alex Link to comment
