COMMODUS. Æ As. Rome, 192 AD. Obv. L AEL AVREL COMM AVG P FEL Head in lion skin right Rev. HER-CVL/ROM-AN/AV-GV/S-C in four lines flanking club; all within wreath. RIC 644, Cohen 193 (4 F) Scarce type. Commodus now directly identifies with Hercules, using its attributes. Said to have been found in Greece.
