As Antoninus Pius - Arched temple

ANTONINUS PIUS. AE As. Rome, 158/159 AD. Obv. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XXII Laureated head right Rev. COS IIII SC Male figure standing facing on low pedestal, head right, holding eagle-tipped sceptre and branch; all within arched distyle temple; crossed shields and trophy as acroteria; florettes along roof line. C. 333 (5F) The temple depicted on the reverse is uncertain, but the attributes (scepter and branch) of the figure within suggest it is a statue of the Emperor as Consul (or 'pacifer'?), but certainly not Genius Senatus (whose attributes are a branch and a simple scepter) as often mentioned. Tiber patina Bagnolet coin fair, ex. LORIVAL, 27 Nov. 2004
