It was "pre-eminently the collection of a scholar"; Sir Bunbury has graduated from Cambridge as Senior Classic in 1833 and took the Chancellor's Medal, he wrote a "History of Ancient Geography" in 1879, and contributed many articles to "Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology."
