Two issues with this coin needs to be resolved
(i) The obverse legend (EDWARD DI GRA REX) appears to match the Blunt & Whitton type II
Halfpence but non otherwise recorded;however,
Withers records this variant as Type 2c with concordance with Blunt & Whitton Type III
(Plain Bust) although the legend type is anomolous.
Other coins assigned to this group show the legend EDWARD REX ANGLI(E)
& (ii) The reverse letter form of the D in DOn looks like a reversed letter E.
Withers does not comment on this but similar
lettering is evident in other examples of the Heavy Coinage.
