Hadrian. A.D. 117-138 . Æ medallion (41 mm, 45.42 g), Rome, ca. A.D. 119-122. IMP CAESAR TRAIANVS HADRIANVS AVG P M TR P COS III, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / MONETA AVGVSTI, Moneta standing left, holding scales in outstretched right hand, cornucopiae on left arm. Gnecchi 83, pl. 145, 6; Cohen 972. Extremely rare. Struck on very large flan with a classic portrait of Hadrian, enjoyable dark green patina and extremely fine. Ex NAC 27 (12 May 2004), 389. Realized CHF 32,500 on an estimate of CHF 24,000.
