Henry III Cut Half Penny - Class 3ab1 Mint Lincoln(?)
Henry III Voided Long Cross (No Sceptre) Cut Half Penny.
Obv: Crowned Bust facing
(hE)NRICVS RE(X.III) - N R ligate; vertical stroke of N & R
shared as the horizontal central cross stroke of the N is clearly visible. pellet in centre of S.
Rev: Voided Long Cross quartered by trefoil of pellets.
(RIC)/ARD/ON L/(INC). Note: AR Ligate in RICARD as are the letters O & N.
Class 3ab1 (?) North 986/1 English Hammered Coinage Vol 1 Page 226. Weight = 0.63 gms. Bought eBay July 17.
Class 3ab or b not recorded for the Moneyer Ricard from London but is found for Ricard at Lincoln; thus the attribution of the Mint to Lincoln in the absence of the full Mint signature.
I would be interested if Rob Page of Henry III.com agrees with this mint attribution?
