AR Metapontum Stater 520 B.C. (7.7g, 28.1 mm) O: Emblem of Metapontum, a plump ear of barley, surrounded by a beaded border. META. HN III 1467. Jameson 260. Noe 75. R: Obverse design repeated in negative relief. G: EF, some minor scratches to left field. Beautifully toned, well struck and centred early incuse stater. A wonderful example, one of the most appealing and complete examples in private hands. S: Art Ancient via coins 7/10/17. Ex. French private collection, with French export license.
