Edward III Series E Penny - Mint Durham Obv: Crowned Bust facing +EDWARDVS o RE(X A)NGLI Rev: Long cross quartered by trefoil of pellets; crozier at end of long cross by CIVI CIVI/ TAS/ DVNE/(LM)IE. - unbarred N; D in Durham reversed. Issued by Bishop Hatfield. Weight = 1.12 gms North 1170 - SCBC 1594 LAL 1/2 Durham Series E Unusual letter R which looks like a P with a horizontal bar at the foot. This letter form occurs on some Groats & half groats of London but not on the pence. It does not occur on the coins minted in York but occasionally does so on the pence minted at Durham - as on this example. Bought Ebay June 2012
