Samurai Ressei Mempo Momoyama - Early Edo Period 1568-1611

4to2centophilia

A beautifully crafted Ressei Men (Furious Power)style menpo with skillfully embossed facial contours, bold wrinkles and deep curved jaw-line. Odome posts are set into both sides of the menpo. Original lacquer finish is in very good condition with some minor loss. The interior of the mask is coated with smooth cinnabar red lacquer and in very good condition. The yodare-kake is finished in gold lacquer kozane and is original to this piece. This is a very rare "full" style of yodare kake. The boar hair moustache is full and in excellent condition. Very, very nice! Are you having a Tom Cruise moment? Jokes aside, wondeful to see item like this, in such nice condition. Thank you. Alex

I had been looking for 10 months to see if the matching face mask came on the market. I was happy it did, but not happy with the timing. I had to grab it while I could, but it came at the expense of any bidding on coins in the upcoming auctions.

I need to win the lottery if I am going to satisfy my collecting needs. I am heartbroken that there are so many desirable coins coming up and I have to sit on the sidelines. The latest batch of Fierstein coins at NAC are stunning. Greek and Roman. I hope someone here manages to grab a couple.

I will put up a picture when I get the mempo and kabuto together on the stand. Should make a strong impression.

Oh and Alex............Katie and Suri said hello. I am off to engage in some Risky Business.
