Nero / Jupiter / Denarius

AnemicOak

Attribution: RIC 64 (RIC I) Date Minted: 66-67 AD (Rome) Obverse: IMP NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS - Laureate head of Nero facing right Reverse: IVPPITER CVSTOS - Jupiter seated left, holding thunderbolt and sceptre Weight: 2.84 grams Size: 17.6mm An excellent mature portrait of Nero with striking details and stylistically superior devices on a flan that is just a touch tight, but still full legends. The reverse, however, exhibits significantly more wear than the obverse, possibly from cabinet wear as it does appear that this coin has been out of the ground for an extended period. Lightly toned. ex Glenn Woods
