Cyrenaica - Cellarius 1719 map


[B]Cyrenaica & surrounding regions as rendered during the early 18th century by Christopher Cellarius.[/B] [U]Dimensions[/U]: 7.5" x 9.5" with two folds (as issued) with later outline coloring. [U]Note[/U]: Christopher Cellarius (Keller), not to be confused with the mathematician and cosmographer Andreas Cellarius, was a geographer and professor at Halle, Germany in the mid-to-late 17th century. He was best known for "Geographia Antiqua," which went through many editions starting in 1696 and from which this map was taken. The map shows the regions of Cyrenaica, including Geatuli, Libyes Egypti, and others. The ancient cities of Ammonis, Cyrene, Arsinoe, Apollonia, and Ptolemai are noted.
